OF THE
TIMES
We live in a nonlinear Universe. Patterns begin and disappear all the time, yet mankind assumes that many patterns extending beyond our horizon are perpetual or almost perpetual. Recognition of past non-linearities have often come too late resulting in catastrophic outcomes for many human populations. Conversely, current trends are assumed to continue unabated, causing great misdirection of human energies. Positive feedbacks reinforce trends while negative feedbacks reduce and stop these trends. Observations of the Universe show that negative feedback always intervenes eventually to stop all trends, thus making our Universe nonlinear. Follow on Twitter: @NonlinOrg
