Best of the Web: Ruthlessness gene discovered

Dictatorial behaviour may be partly genetic, study suggests.

Selfish dictators may owe their behaviour partly to their genes, according to a study that claims to have found a genetic link to ruthlessness. The study might help to explain the money-grabbing tendencies of those with a Machiavellian streak - from national dictators down to 'little Hitlers' found in workplaces the world over.

Could a gene be partly responsible for the behaviour of some of the worlds most infamous dictators?

Comment: These researchers would benefit greatly from studying psychopathy and ponerology.

It is literally the stuff of nightmares and horror movies. Charming and often powerful, they seduce you to get your guard down. And then, without a second thought or any trace of remorse, they are able to cold-bloodedly thieve, rape, or murder you. Robert Hare, UBC's world-renowned professor emeritus of psychology, goes so far as to say that while they look and sound exactly like us, they are functionally a different species from human beings. And seven years ago, Hare estimated that up to one in one hundred Canadians is one of these people: psychopaths.

Best of the Web: America's Silent Killing Fields

America's silent killers are deadly, and do not discriminate. They target babies, the elderly, teenagers, young adults, middle-age housewives, and businessmen alike. They poison livestock, pets, and wildlife, and the people behind them deny complicity in the carnage. Who or what are these silent, deadly killers? They are the beautiful, green, uniform, and seemingly beneficial, killing fields of genetically modified (GMO) crops. The people behind them are the U.S. government, the Rockefellers, Monsanto, Dow, DuPont, and Syngenta.

Best of the Web: Political Ponerology: A Science of Evil Applied for Political Purposes

Ponerology
"Many people believe that man is evolving; society is evolving; and that we now have control over the arbitrary evil of our environment; or at least we will have it after George Bush and his Neocons have about 25 years to fight the endless War against Terror"

Laura Knight-Jadczyk, from the Editor's Preface to Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes, by Andrew M. Lobaczewski
For all of my life, one of my greatest interests has been to understand the nature of human evil. And I have always believed that it is one of the most important subjects that mankind needs to understand. So thank you to fellow DUer Larry Ogg for referring me to Lobaczewski's book on Political Ponerology (and for your ideas on how to present this information).

Best of the Web: Is an International Financial Conspiracy Driving World Events?

"They make a desolation and call it peace." -Tacitus

Was Alan Greenspan really as dumb as he looks in creating the late housing bubble that threatens to bring the entire Western debt-based economy crashing down?

Was something as easy to foresee as this really the trigger for a meltdown that could destroy the world's financial system? Or was it done, perhaps, "accidentally on purpose"?

And if so, why?

David Rockefeller at Harvard in 2006

Let's turn to the U.S. personage that conspiracy theorists most often mention as being at the epicenter of whatever elite plan is reputed to exist. This would be David Rockefeller, the 92-year-old multibillionaire godfather of the world's financial elite.

This, I think, is the deep context in which we should situate the perpetual travesty machine of American politics. Here too, restrained predation "doesn't quite kill or does kill only slowly." Here, rather, it "keeps hope alive." All through the Bush years, scores of non-Republicans have anticipated the brutal full-flowering of traditional dictatorship with all the trappings: martial law, mass internment and the cancellation of elections. Through much of the Clinton years, many non-Democrats looked for the same. It didn't come (though some are still waiting). It's as if they've not only expected the worst, but sought it, to put them out of their misery. But the worst exceeds their expectations, and their misery is to be protracted indefinitely.

Best of the Web: Death of the Bees: GMO Crops and the Decline of Bee Colonies in North America

'Commercial beehives pollinate over a third of [North}America's crops and that web of nourishment encompasses everything from fruits like peaches, apples, cherries, strawberries and more, to nuts like California almonds, 90 percent of which are helped along by the honeybees. Without this pollination, you could kiss those crops goodbye, to say nothing of the honey bees produce or the flowers they also fertilize'.1

Flashback Best of the Web: Sexual predators in the religious scene

It is necessary to take the pink colored glasses off and stare reality in the face. It might not be pretty what we see, but it is real and acknowledging and understanding the reality in which we live is the best protection we can have. Ignorance is not bliss despite it appearing to be a dominant feature of Western society.

Best of the Web: The Wildest Colts Make the Best Horses

"The book is a challenge to the drugging of children, but the heart of the book is really about how to work with and be with young people in a way that is not suppressive." --John Breeding

This timely book calls for a halt to the epidemic drugging of young people in our society today for so-called ADHD. John Breeding is a clear, strong advocate for young people and a great ally to parents wanting support to resist pressure to label and drug their children. He offers a wealth of information and guidance to concerned adults on biopsychiatry, on schools, and on counseling children.

Prior to writing the book, The Wildest Colts Make the Best Horses, John wrote an 18-page booklet containing the germ of his thinking on this topic. The entire text of this booklet is included below. If you like John Breeding's ideas, you will probably want to order his book HERE.

Comment: SOTT has heard from a couple of sources that John Breeding is affiliated with Scientology. For example, have a look at THIS BLOG. Another item states:
Dr. John Breeding on [Alex Jones] website and sells two of his books. Dr. Breeding is a psychologist who warns about the dangers of giving children Ritalin and other dangerous drugs and offers alternatives. The alternatives spring forth from Scientology and are spiritually dangerous.

Dr. Breeding is definitely affiliated with the "church" of Scientology. Breeding quotes Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in his book, The Wildest Colts Make the Best Horses and his website links to the Scientology front group, Citizens' Commission on Human Rights. Indeed, Dr. Breeding calls this powerful force for Scientology "an awesome organization." (Quote source: Stars Shine For Human Rights Freedom Magazine) They in turn sell his books and have given him at least one prestigious award. Scientology's Freedom Magazine website features an article written by Dr. John Breeding.

According to an article on the Houston Psychiatric Society website, Dr. Breeding's organization, Texans for For Safe Education is a Scientology front group. This assertion fits right in with the fact that Scientology's Citizens' Commission on Human Rights awarded Dr. Breeding for his work with the Texas State Board of Education: [SOURCE LINK]
SOTT wishes to state, right up front, that we don't believe in tossing the baby out with the bathwater. We also do not promote "Black and White" thinking - you know, the "you are either with us or against us" type of thinking that has gotten this planet into the shape it is in right now.

There is good, and there is evil, and there is the specific situation that determines which is which.

Whether or not Dr. Breeding is affiliated with the Church of Scientology or not does not seem to interfere with his rational, decent and humane analysis of what is being done to our children. In fact, from the point of view of the "black and white thinkers," you could even say that anyone who attacks John Breeding for exposing psychiatry and the evil experiments being done on America's children via the psychiatric establishment and the pharmaceutical industry, is definitely on the side of the same gang that was behind 9-11. Think about that for a moment.

John Breeding's defense of children against evil psychopathic psychiatrists and Big Pharma puts him squarely on the side of humanity. We could also say that the Church of Scientology, being against evil psychiatry and Big Pharma could also be said to be wearing a white hat. We are not promoting Scientology here, we just assert that they have a right to exist and we note that they do have a pretty good record of doing good works, getting people off drugs, helping them live productive lives, and so on. We also notice that those who attack them have their own axe to grind, the same way those who attack us have an axe to grind.

Having said that, we also wish to note that it is also possible that psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry have, at times, done very beneficial things for humanity, we just can't think of any right off hand.

Nothing is ever easy; there are no clear and simple criteria; the devil is in the details; and you are still required to think.

SOTT thinks that there is a lot of good in the work of Dr. John Breeding, and the critics be damned.
